WRI Brasil is a research organization that works closely with leaders to transform great ideas into actions to preserve natural resources, creating a foundation for economic opportunity and human well-being. The organization operates in three main areas: Sustainable Cities, Climate and Forests. WRI Brasil is part of the World Resources Institute (WRI), which is present in more than 50 countries.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the largest and oldest network of environmental organizations and has been operating since October 1948 to promote nature conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. Through its constituents (member organizations, thematic committees and secretariat), IUCN participates in scientific research and promotes and supports the implementation of legal instruments, policies and conservation practices nationwide. It operates or manages thousands of projects worldwide.

The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is an independent philanthropic organization based in London (UK), with offices in Nairobi (Kenya) and New Delhi (India). The foundation works with a wide network of partners to transform the lives of vulnerable children in developing countries.


President of the Renova Foundation. Biologist, businessman and expert on climate and sustainability, he is founder and shareholder of Amata S.A., of which he was president. Throughout his career, he has established strong relationships with civil society organizations, participating in the boards of institutions such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Ethos, Instituto Brasileiro de Governança Corporativa (IBGC, Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance), Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia (Ipam, Environmental Research Institute of Amazonia) and Fundo Brasileiro para a Biodiversidade (Funbio, Brazilian Biodiversity Fund). He serves on boards of companies in the forestry, agribusiness and new economy sectors. He has a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting, University of São Paulo (FEA-USP).

 IUCN and WRI Brasil founded VERENA with the financial support of CIFF in 2015. The project was originally conceived by the businessman Roberto Waack, who left in 2016 to lead the Renova Foundation
